Used Fluke Tenor Great Shape – SOLD
Sure, after raving about the Travel Tenor above, now we offer a Fluke! Make no mistake, we’re not saying the Fluke is not a great instrument too. It is still perhaps the most popular ukes on earth, and for good reason… Especially when you can get one here for only $199. In fact, if this retailed for $199 we’d probably keep it rated a notch above the Travel Tenor, but this model retails for $295 (The retail base price for the Fluke is $190 + $20 tenor upgrade + $75 rosewood fretboard and Aquilas upgrade + shipping). It’s in great shape, I pick it up and play it quite a bit here. It has a slight scrape on the plastic corner, looks like when someone was standing it up they scuffed the corner on a rough surface.
Like all Flukes we have ever heard, this baby is loud, bright, and has great action. The rosewood fretboard and Aquila strings are a giant improvement over the polycarbonate fretboard models. (I actually hate those plastic neck buggers, my fingers get sore playing them, but the rosewood upgrade is silky smooth and a pleasure to play).
This is the “Natural” model, blond Australian Pine top. Even used though, these puppies do hold their price. You’ll be hard pressed to find one for under $250. Here’s my honest, personal opinion on Flukes (your opinion may vary and I won’t argue).
Positives: If you like Ovation and Applause Guitars, chances are you’ll like Flukes. It has a polycarbonate back that makes the sound booom. It’s a very solid, sell built, great playing instrument with volume to let you stand out in any uke crowd. And it has a flat end that lets it stand up without a stand.
Negatives: Depending on your playing position, the flat end of the body can be uncomfortable. It is for me. I want some more surface under my forearm, but I don’t hold the uke “correctly” when I play. For others, it’s no big deal. I suggest you find one in a store and strum it, see what you think. And, like an Ovation guitar the sound is not as warm as an all wood instrument, instead it is bright. Great for hearing yourself in a group. Of course, a truly great sounding wood uke can cost many times more.
So I leave it to you to research and decide. Flukes are definitely worth a try. Some people absolutely love them and they have every right to. Mr. Beloff and company have developed a truly fine instrument at a reasonable price, and they’re made in the USA! Here’s the homepage for the Flukes.
The Official Ukulele Chord Theory Tutor Gizmo!

The Official Ukulele Chord Theory Tutor Gizmo™ from PlayUke.net is kind of like a slide rule for the uke! You can use it to take a quick, self-guided lesson anytime you wish. It fits in your case, requires no computer, and costs about the same as a burger (but doesn’t make your case smell like onions!). Click here for more.
