Aloha,
We have some sad news to report but have assembled a contingency plan that I hope will please the majority of you.
Jake Shimabukuro has had a death in his family and must reschedule his concert to June 11. The Uke Fest will continue as planned, with Jake-ticket holders witnessing a spectacular “Ukulele All-Stars” concert this Saturday night as well as Jake’s sold out show in June. For those of you who will be unable to attend the June show, the Nugget has agreed to refund your ticket purchase.
Although no one can replace Jake, Saturday’s show will be quite amazing. Aldrine Guerrero has agreed to literally jump on a plane and fly in from Kauai to join Brittni Paiva on the showroom stage, and they will be joined throughout the evening in various duos and combos featuring “any-and-or-all-of” James Hill, Michael Powers, Dominator, Ukulele Bartt, and who knows who else, for some raise-the-roof, high intensity uke magic.
For those of you unfamiliar with Aldrine, he is regarded by many to be next in line to Jake in playing ability, and is also a beloved teacher to thousands of ukesters through his free video lessons at UkuleleUnderground.com. Here is an example of Aldrine in action:
Our thoughts go out to Jake and his family and we sincerely hope that each of you will still have a fantastic time at Tahoe Area Uke Fest II and the beautiful Nugget Resort. And say Hi to Jake in June! I will be in Seattle!!!
